(Khartoum, Sudan)

in 2004

A bridge-tunnel project (contract value in excess of 22 mUSD) across the Blue Nile, with a total length of 854 m connecting 2 carriage-ways (double lanes in either direction)

The bridge (with 7 m clearance above water level) is designed as pre-stressed balanced cantilevers extending at either end to approach viaducts of pre-cast concrete box girders. The feasibility study included conceptual, design and construction issues (physical constraints, traffic flows, economics, environmental impact, etc.), alternative construction schedules with respect to time and cost parameters, etc.
